It's not any judge, lawyer, politician, or teacher But the blood of a soldier that has sacrificed by choice. Our soldiers line up to be remembered As the best of the best at their job. ... The Soldier A protest raged on a courthouse lawn, Round a makeshift stage they charged on, Fifteen hundred or more they say, Had come to burn a Flag that day. A boy held up the folded Flag, Cursed it, and called it a dirty rag. An old man pushed through the angry crowd, With a rusty shotgun shouldered proud. His uniform jacket was old and tight, He had polished each button, shiny and bright. He crossed that ... with a soldier's grace, Until he and the boy stood face to face." Freedom of speech ", the old man said," Is worth dying for, good men are dead, So you can stand on this courthouse lawn, And talk us down from dusk to dawn, But before any Flag gets burned today, This old man is going to have his say! ... , I struggled to hear, And I crept to the door just to see who was near. Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night, A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight. A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old, Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold. Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled, Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child." What are you ... ?" I asked without fear," Come in this moment, it's freezing out here! Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve, You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve !" The soldier squared his shoulders and said," No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. ... Two Soldiers Two soldiers were killed in Baghdad today, leaving their families to mourn. They died on a foreign battlefield far from where they were born. Didn't see it in The Times or on the network news. I suppose they were too busy spouting political views. These were men of honor, who vowed of their own accord To faithfully serve our country by picking up its sword. And so, to foreign soil they went to fight the evil foe Whose goal is world oppression where freedom reigns no more. They were American soldiers who paid the ultimate price, And we, the American people, must honor their sacrifice. For all the blessings we ve received, our nation must stand strong To vanquish brutal enemies and right their evil wrongs. And so, I humbly ask you to close your eyes and say A silent prayer and thank you. Two soldiers died today. The world has seen its share of war throughout these many ...

... The Helmet-Honor Never Repaid A shot ripped through the air, Blood mingled with the blowing dirt, It lodged within his shoulder Leaving the young soldier badly hurt. The force of the bullet Pushed him to the dust. He lay there so stunned, But did what he must. He got up to his knees, That he might help his fellow men. Staggered a couple feet, Yet stumbled once again. He fell back to the ground And looked across from him. He saw his helmet laying there, A gouge marked the rim. He groaned in pain and knew That he was going to die, But knew its for a good cause, Then breathed his last sigh. Once again another soldier Had died to keep us free. A true American Patriot. Who fought for our country. And we give thanks today For the sacrifices made. For all Americans know Honor never can be repaid.~Autumn Bentham~[ ...

Though Herod ’ s soldiers were all around, The Holy Family could still be found, Attending to the Christ Child ’ s needs, Along the wayside, among the weeds. She hung them gently on this drying rack, His swaddling clothes, a scent it did lack. Still a symbol of virtue and purity," Our Lady's Shelter ," so none could see. ... Hearts at Half Mast God bless our soldiers and their wives. so far apart but hearts always touching. Their hearts are at half mast as they protect our land. There ’ s no way they are whole, no way they that they can. For part of that heart is missing, the part they love the most. That heart is many miles away, farther than coast to coast. For those two hearts are yearning for the other to return. But the battles not over yet, their hearts will continue to churn. The loneliness that each of those hearts feel is tremendous pain. They ask for so very little, just wanting to be together once again. Let ’ s remember the sacrifice that these soldiers and wives feel. For it ’ s very intense and hugely unselfish, but it is absolutely real. And let this violent war end soon so the hearts can again be one. This is the victory I have ...

... A Soldier's Christmas I am over here in battle with bombing all around Bullets fly and shrapnel is falling on the ground And though I stay alert to danger, eyes and ears upon the war My mind begins to wander to where all my family are. I fight because I love you all, more than you can know And though I'm full of love for you I've seldom let it show. But with thoughts of the joy of Christmas bearing on my mind And missing you so desperately I quite often find That there are things I wish I'd said more often in the past And talked of love and visions for a future that would last. ... Fighting Just for Him He was just a plain old soldier, With coat, and hat, and arms, But there was something different in his eyes, And in the way he held his form. He stood up straighter than the rest, His eyes were filled with light, And no matter the man in charge of us, He always acted right. Some of the men resented him, Calling him haughty and proud But that first day I talked with him, I knew he was different from the crowd. His story touched my heart within, And tears fell down my face, And when you hear the words he spoke, Your doubts it will erase. ... Cross-Watch Salute to my Commanding Officer in The Lord's Army The other day I received a gift: a beautiful watch in the shape of a cross, In recognition, of my promotion, It was given to me by my boss. It had been made-to-order; created just so, and definitely, fit, just for me It had a sterling silver cuff-band that simply caressed my wrist, harmoniously! So now, on every occasion when I am given to checking the hour, I will bless my boss when I see the cross, remembering, how Jesus gave it its power! Therefore, will I recall, even amidst the daily grind, commotion, and common upheaval, The fact that Christ died for me: a reminder to redeem the time, for the days. they are evil. “ See to it then, that you walk circumspectly; not as fools, but as the wise, redeeming the time, for the days are ...

The cross from his back held him high in his shame, And the soldiers encircled his death with a game. He had a kind face, in his eyes none saw hate, And he shook when they laughed at his horrible fate. He was dying for me, took my sins on himself, And I wept when I saw him, in spite of myself. A look in his eye, and the twist of his head, Soon gave me to know, I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to ...

... The Warrior This morning my thoughts traveled along to a place in my life where days have long since gone. Beholding an image of what I use to be. As visions were stirred, and God spoke to me He showed me a warrior, a soldier in place, Positioned by Heaven, yet I saw not the face. I watched as the warrior fought enemies. They came from the darkness with destruction for me I saw as the warrior would dry away tears As all of Heaven's angels hovered so near. I saw many wounds on the warriors face. Yet weapons of warfare were firmly in place. I felt my heart weeping, my eyes held so much, as God let me feel the warrior's prayer touched. I thought" how familiar" the words that were prayed. The prayers were like lightening that never would fade. I said to God" Please, the warrior's name". He gave no reply, He choose ...

... The Armor Of God Put on the whole armor of God, And soldiers we shall be. Fighting the powers of darkness, Who thirst for the souls of the free. Through lust, they try to enslave us, And silence God's voice in man. With focus of faith we shun them, Avoiding the grasp of their hand. Satan whispers his sadistic thoughts In every language and every ear. Tempting all with the sins of hell, Victims of misery, hopelessness and fear. Eagerly plotting to disrupt God's works, Evil swallows up souls like the shifting sand. The armor of God is our divine protection, Shielding every child, woman, and man.~Tom Zart~[ by: Tom Zart Copyright 2005-submitted by: Tom Zart (zart08 @netzero.com)] Inspirational Poems SkyWriting.Net All Rights Reserved. ...

... far off rumble of trains or thunder As they pass through the night in the dark. The joy of our babies first words and steps The passion of life with its heroes and clowns. The on going struggle to survive our sins As we proliferate in hamlets and towns. My favorite poet is our Father of love Who was first to know us before birth. His poetry prolongs every thing we love As His deliverance gives life its worth.~Tom Zart~Soldier For The Lord [by: Tom Zart Copyright 2008-submitted by: Tom Zart (zart08 @netzero.com)] Inspirational Poems SkyWriting.Net All Rights Reserved. ...

... try to keep my thoughts from turning black. I may be scared, but I am proud. My son has got your back. I am a strong and loving wife, with a husband soon to go. There are times I'm terrified in a way most never know. I bite my lip, and force a smile as I watch my husband pack. My heart may break, but I am proud. My husbands got your back. I am a Soldier. Serving Proudly, standing tall. I fight for freedom, yours and mine by answering this call. I do my job while knowing, the thanks it sometimes lacks. Say a prayer that I'll come home. It's me who's got your back. [By: Autumn Parker, Copyright 2003-Updated: 2011-{ used with permission}] Inspirational Poems SkyWriting.Net All Rights Reserved. ...

... Holly's Legend Holly bush along the way, Is it true the tales they say? Were your berries once bright white? Were your branches woven tight? You were such a scraggly thing, When the soldiers sought our King. Is it true that Mary prayed? As beneath your bough she laid. Her Babe within your holly bed, Entrusting Him to you it ’ s said, That you tried with all your might, And you hid Him from their sight. Did your leaves enfold Him so? Since He had no place to go? When Mary placed Him ‘ neath your bough, You sheltered Him you'd not allow, Harm to come to Him that day, Least that's what the stories say. Is it true a roof you grew, Over Him till they passed through? In your heart you kept Him there, Till all was safe no need to care. Is that why He blessed you so? Now your bush will ...

... Ideals Remember that ideals are like stars up in the sky, You can never really reach them, hanging in the heavens high. But like the mighty mariner who sailed the storm-tossed sea, And used the stars to chart his course with skill and certainty, You too can chart your course in life with high ideals and love, For high ideals are like the stars that light the sky above. You cannot ever reach them, but lift your heart up high And your life will be as shining as the stars up in the sky. ... A Memorial Day Poem We walked among the crosses Where our fallen soldiers lay. And listened to the bugle As TAPS began to play. The Chaplin led a prayer We stood with heads bowed low. And I thought of fallen comrades I had known so long ago. They came from every city Across this fertile land. That we might live in freedom. They lie here 'neath the sand. I felt a little guilty My sacrifice was small. I only lost a little time But these men lost their all. Now the services are over For this Memorial Day. To the names upon these crosses I just want to say, Thanks for what you've given No one could ask for more. ... Alabama Morning A good day for fishing! Yes Lord, a good day. I grab my fishing pole and out the door I go. The cows are grazing. The meadow smells sweet. A cormorant sits atop a lifeless cypress tree, sentinel to these still waters that beckon me. Glints of sunshine dance across the rippling circles created by a stork in search of breakfast. As I walk nonchalantly by, engrossed in God's beauty, and army of turtles frantically leap into the water, regretfully sacrificing another moment in the sun. The pecan tree looming above stares in utter silence as her offspring fall threateningly close to me! At last I reach the path leading to my honey hole. As I turn the final bend, my eye catches the slow, methodical undulation of a 'gator on the prowl. I gasp in wonder at the ever changing sameness of this place! Reaching the waters that have invited me, I cast my line with ...

... The Call Dedicated to all the American heroes of 9 / 11, of history, of today and of tomorrow. In the time of crisis and trouble, one of our first thoughts is," Where can I get someone to help me ?" One of the genuine blessings of this great country of ours is the fact that we do have emergency and military professionals who are dedicated and committed to public safety and national defense. Sadly, this high and special calling sometimes requires the ultimate sacrifice of health and even life itself. Too often these heroic efforts occur in the absence of expressions of gratitude from those who are being served. The alarm call rings out on a dreadful day." Look up at the horror and come right away! The need is so great, lives hang on the edge"" We offer ourselves ," is their sworn pledge. Sirens sound out as heroes swing into action. Though peril abounds, there is no ...

... On My Honor I am the daughter of a soldier. I treasure liberty, Because my father taught me That freedom is not free. For every right and privilege Someone has paid the cost In blood and sweat and tears And in lives we lost. Some heroes walk among us And defend us every day, While others trod on foreign soil Some thousand miles away. Each is a reminder Of the ones who've gone before, Remembered now in glory, In prayers and tales of war. And in case you've neglected To give them what they re due, Rise now and be counted For the Red, the White, the Blue. Old Glory's but a symbol Of the legacy we share. To keep her flying proud and strong, Americans must care. We must not sit in apathy And let our freedom die. We have to rise to action And boldly question, Why? In the past we've proven That Americans Can Do. Our ...

... Someone took His body, others say he rose again, Some even say He lives and He has spoken to his men" I thought I spoke to John and Peter early on last night, They never mentioned anything, this fellow can't be right. The town is in a frenzy some remember what He said, They think because the body's gone He came back from the dead. Many were not there that day when he was crucified, But I saw the soldier thrust the sword into His side. I had thought He'd use His power to show He was Lord, But I knew that He was dead because I saw the sword. I had to go and see the men to see what they have heard, Rumors spread so quickly and you can't believe a word. People love to gossip and spread stories all around. I know the men are hiding they're afraid they may be found. Later on that evening when I knew it would ...

... to long, Allowing satan to creep into our homes. It's time to stand up and let satan know, We're taking back all he has stole so long ago. Get up and take a stand, Don't allow satan to devour our land. He is running to and fro, Destroying our children everywhere he goes. Jesus didn't leave us helpless and defeated, Yet we act as though we've been mistreated. Keep your eyes focused on the light, Be a soldier stand up for what is right.
