... it November ’ s gloom was everywhere. It was then, however, that I saw it. A single yellow butterfly was floating in the breeze and feasting on the few remaining dandelions left in my yard. It was a little miracle that filled my soul with delight. I smiled and thanked God for this message of joy and for all the little miracles in this world. So many people in this life pray for big miracles but fail to notice the little miracles that ... Little Miracles It had been a week of heavy frosts in the evenings here. The frozen nights had just about killed off the grass and most of the flowers were gone as well. The bitter, morning air was a reminder that Fall was almost over and that Winter was just around the corner. I noticed too as I walked my dogs on that cold afternoon that the trees in the woods were getting as bare as the top of my head. It seemed like ...

... Miracle Workers This world is full of miracles from the rising of the sun at dawn, to the first flower in the Spring, to the colors of the leaves in the Fall. The miracles that touch my heart the most, though, are the tiny ones. These are the ones that go unnoticed by most people, but they are the ones that make life worth living. One of the best of these tiny miracles is preformed by a local miracle worker everyday ... Her job in this world is ringing up and bagging groceries, but her job from Heaven is bringing a little more joy to each heart she meets. I saw her hard at work just today. It had been a rainy morning with cold air and gray skies. Everyone who walked into the grocery store had a shiver in their walk and a frown on their face. I was no exception to this either. It had been a long, hard Winter and I felt ...

... A 'Sign ' For Santa It had been a long day. I was tired, and ready to go home. But, home would have to wait for now. A little Christmas miracle was just around the corner, waiting to be born. My wife and I, and our five children had recently moved to the little Texas town of Overton. We had been involved in the Christian ministry for years and had been badly hurt by some people we deeply loved. ... party. I had played the part of Santa. Now, though, the kids were all gone and it was time for Santa to go into the back room and transform, once again, into plain old me. But Christmas miracles don't always abide by our plans and timetables, not even for the man in red. Knock, knock, knock." Yes ," I said, as I finally got out of the old, worn out Santa suit. It didn't ...

... that result from pure chance may occur, it is an injustice to God to chalk up all miraculous events as such. In my own life, especially as a younger, single woman, there were times that I needed a virtual miracle to pull me out of a desperate situation. When these prayers were answered, some of my friends rolled their eyes, insisting the only astounding thing to happen was that good luck had fallen my way. However, deep in my heart ... Coincidence or God?" At first laying down, as a fact fundamental, that nothing with God can be accidental" -Longfellow A friend and I were discussing miracles. It is interesting to note how some people, when faced with a miraculous situation, interpret the events as nothing more than pure coincidence. While events that result from pure chance may occur, it is an injustice to God to chalk up all miraculous events as such. In my own life, especially ...

... of her daughter. The passing bus did not create the wind. On the contrary, the wind came from the opposite direction. I have no doubt it was a breath from God protecting them both. But the awesomeness of this miracle is that she never knew. As we continued back to work, I wondered how God often acts in our lives without our being aware. ... A Miracle Morning In her poem" Aurora Leigh ," Elizabeth Bar rett Browning wrote: Earth's crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God; But only he who sees, takes off his shoes, The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries. I have certainly plucked my share of black berries, blind to what wonder there is in life. But on occasion I have also had my eyes opened by others, a bit more sensitive and aware. I cherish those mo ments and recall them when life gets too routine and ordinary. I'll never forget one such moment. I stumbled out the door of a mountain cabin where I was spending the weekend working with youth and their families at a rustic retreat center. I had a 6: 30 a.m. appointment to keep and squinted from the early autumn sun peeking over pine-blan keted mountaintops." Today is a miracle !" spoke a young, enthu siastic ...

... When Everything Is A Miracle Marlin Perkins, long-time host of television's" Wild Kingdom ," spent most of his life trying to put people on a first-name basis with animals. His wife Carol wanted to marry him so badly that she never let on that she did not fully share his passion for wildlife. Soon after their marriage they went to central Africa. She tried valiantly not to complain during the long expedition, but one night she was exhausted. She said she wasn't hungry and just wanted to go to bed. So she undressed and reached for her pillow, when out from underneath crawled a huge lizard that ran up her chest and down her arm. Carol started to scream and couldn't stop. She was so tired of being brave. Marlin came running, and after he saw that Carol wasn't hurt, he put his arm around her and said," Honey, think of how lucky you were to see him up close" I'm ...

... would show the world his life's ideals. And at that time came into being yearly prizes for chemistry, physics, medicine, literature – and the famous Nobel Peace Prize. If you were to read your own obituary today, what would it say? Do others know what you stand for, what you believe in and what truly matters to you? Dr. Philip Humbert asks," What remarkable, extraordinary and amazing things will you do with this wild and wonderful miracle, your one and only life ?" I believe that the question should also be asked this way:" What will you do with this wild and wonderful miracle, your one and only DAY ?" For it's increasingly clear to me that the decisions I make every day, even little decisions, will decide how my life will eventually turn out. Hopefully, I won't wake up to read my own obituary. But I have already begun to write it – day by day, ...

... Ever Increasing Joy One of the most fascinating discoveries that I have made in my life is that no matter how much love you give to others or joy you share with them you still end up with more than you started with. It is a wonderful miracle that never stops amazing me. When I smile and wave at my neighbor across the road I send all of my joy with it. Yet, when I go back inside my house I find that I have even more joy warming my heart and soul than I did before. When I stop to share a few nice words with someone I meet I share my kindness with them as well. Later, however, I find that the kindness in me has grown greater rather than less. When I give my children a hug and tell them I love them I can actually feel the love flowing from my heart and soul to their's. Still, when I look inside myself afterwards I ...

... Grr-face Miracle The mother sat on the simulated-leather chair in the doctor's office, picking nervously at her fingernails. Wrinkles of worry lined her forehead as she watched 5-year-old Kenny sitting on the rug before her. He is small for his age and a little too thin, she thought. His fine blond hair hung down smooth and straight to the top of his ears. But while gauze bandages encircled his head, covering his eyes and pinning his ears back. In his lap he bounced a beaten-up teddy bear. It was the pride of his life, yet one arm was gone and one eye was missing. Twice his mother had tried to throw the bear away, to replace it with a new one, but he had fussed so much she had relented. She tipped her head slightly to the side and smiled at him. It's really about all he has, she sighed to herself. A nurse appeared in the doorway." Kenny Ellis ...

No truer, more revolting image of you exists anywhere else in the universe. But. ... that had raised a family of birds earlier this Spring on my Dad ’ s porch across the road had started a second nest in this Maple tree. Looking up I saw the nest high in the branches. The baby bird had taken quite a fall and I was sure it was dead. I reached down to pick it up when suddenly it moved. Its bald head with still closed eyes was stretching from side to side looking for its Mother. Amazed at this miracle, I pondered what to do. I knew that my Dad had a ladder at his house so I ran over to get it. Hurrying back I checked on the baby robin. It was still alive. I placed the ladder against the tree and tried to get it near the branch with the nest. It was then that I heard the Maple leaves" meow". Gazing through them I saw the culprit, a neighborhood Tomcat. ... No, not that we've put on some weight, although I can certainly relate to that, but that we approach our prayer life as he did; trying to superimpose*our*will over that of our Heavenly Father. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He taught them to ask for God's will (Matt. 6: 10 ), and the New Testament is simply filled with instances and examples of the occasions upon which Christ prayed. More numerous than the miracles are Christ's prayers. And in the Garden, shortly before He was betrayed, He prayed to the Father," may your will be done" Matt. 26: 39. Even Christ, with His high standing as the only Son of God, did not attempt to superimpose His will over that of the Father, but rather accepted the will of His (and our) Father over what He would will. And let us recall Paul's strong teaching to the church at ...

They are not about understanding the past or setting goals for the future. They are simply about living in the present moment. Writer H.G. Wells once noted," Man must not allow the clock and the calendar to blind him to the fact that each moment of life is a miracle and a mystery" Anybody can get more out of life who concentrates on and cherishes the here and now – and we're not talking about golf. The present is too important not to pay attention to it. ... God ’ s Dresser There are many people in the world that have a problem with forgiving themselves of their past mistakes and the enemy of hell tries his best to add condemnation to worsen the feelings that they have. God is a God of love and compassion who wishes to forgive and restore all who come to Him. Never allow the enemy to make you feel as if you are beyond redemption. God is able to turn your mess into a miracle. I hope the following story will minister to you if you are having trouble forgiving yourself, or feel as if God will never forgive you of your past mistakes. A woman is dying of Aids. A minister is summoned. He attempts to comfort her, but to no avail." I am lost ," she said." I have ruined my life and every life around me. Now I'm going painfully to hell. There is no hope for me" The minister saw a ...

Suddenly my toddler climbed on my knee for a game of" blow on my belly". At that time money was tight, miracle glue was cheap, and new glasses were not. I put my son down then, glued and reset the frames, and set them on the table to dry. Sewing the jacket without my glasses, though, was no easy task. On my thirtieth try at threading the needle my little daughter came in the room. After the first rays of sunshine pry my eyelids open, I get up, put my clothes on, and take my dogs out for their morning walk. It is while I am walking my furry friends that I get to see this special morning blessing. It is the rising sun climbing over the trees and shining down on the cemetery next to my backyard. Every time this morning miracle occurs I gaze in awe while my dogs sit patiently by my side. The silent grave stones stand solemnly as a testament that life on this world is brief. They whisper to me that one day I too will no longer be here. They remind me that every moment here is precious and should be treasured. At the same time the glorious sun shining down on those stones gives me a fresh sense of hope for the new day ahead. It reminds me that I ...

... Dogs Life Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little ...

... make that prayer come true. It is doing what you are able, with what you are given, to make this world a bit more like Heaven. It is little things like these that make our days good and the world better. It is little things like these that make our hearts swell and our spirits sing. It is little things like these that put the life in living. To paraphrase the wise words of Og Mandino in his book, The Greatest Miracle in The World," Do all things with love: love for yourself, love for others, and love for God" If you do your life will be greater than you could ever imagine and this world will be a more wonderful place because you are in it. If you do people will smile around you, Heaven will smile down on you, and your soul will smile within you.~Joseph J. Mazzella~[ by: Joseph J. Mazzella Copyright ...

... , Edie asked the teacher if she could sit at a table with these girls in the classroom. She had noticed that they were disruptive because they didn't understand the lessons. Edie became their tutor. Toward the end of the school year, when Edie's parents went to school for a parent teacher conference, the teacher told them," Because of Edie's kindness, those girl's have completely turned around and are productive members of the class" She felt she had witnessed a miracle. And so did Edie's mom and dad. How many people go through life never experiencing kindness? They don't see it in strangers, and some don't even find it in their own families. Without experiencing kindness, it becomes impossible to express kindness toward others. The result of this tragic lack is seen everywhere. What a different society this would be if everyone who has received kindness would be kind to others, especially the unlovely. But I say unto you, Love ...

... is going on like this ," she said." She still thinks everything is wonderful" When do we stop thinking everything is wonderful? When we grow up? Does growing older also mean growing jaded? And must we travel to faraway places to marvel once again? Can't we experience wonder and awe today-this moment? A fresh orange or buttered toast is no less marvelous today than when you first tasted it. The building you work in may be an architectural miracle the ancients never fathomed. The smell of your summer garden or the sight of this evening's sunset can be no less glorious today than it ever was. Few things are commonplace in themselves-it's our reaction to them that grows dull over the years. As Einstein observed, those who will pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe will truly live. They will see what others miss. They will feel what others cannot. Life will be for them both exquisite and mysterious ...

... ; 1 John 2-4). He cannot love us more than He has or does (see Romans 5: 1-11; 8: 1, 31-39). However, we can live in such a way that He can bless His good kids (John 14: 19-15: 27). Last of all, we discover that Jesus grew in favor with man. Common ones received Him gladly. Sometimes the crowds around Jesus swelled as they hoped for another free lunch and miracle show (John 6). Yet, we also know social outcasts and serious sinners felt at home in His presence. Children loved Him and they are often a great test of character. One of the descriptions of an Elder, spiritual exemplars for the church, is that they would have a good reputation with outsiders (1 Timothy 3: 7). If you often make waiters and cashiers mad, drive like a loony and regularly tick off people, you might want ...
